BookIt SA

Terms of use

Draft for review by a lawyer before launch. Last updated October 2026.

1. The service

BookIt SA provides online booking pages, deposits, WhatsApp messaging tools and customer management for small businesses. The business you book with provides the actual service and is responsible for it.

2. Subscriptions (business owners)

  • Plans: Starter R199, Pro R349 and Business R499 per month, VAT included. Plan limits (for example staff calendars and broadcasts) are shown on the pricing page.
  • New businesses get a 14-day free trial. After the trial, a paid plan is needed to keep taking bookings.
  • Plans are month-to-month and can be cancelled at any time. Fees already paid aren't refunded for part months.
  • BookIt may suspend accounts used for spam, fraud or illegal services.

3. Deposits, cancellations and no-shows (customers)

  • Some businesses ask for a deposit to confirm a booking. The deposit is paid to the business through PayFast and comes off the price on the day.
  • Each business sets a cancellation window (for example 24 hours) shown on its booking page. Cancelling or rescheduling before the window is free and the deposit is refunded.
  • If you cancel inside the window or don't arrive, the business may keep the deposit, as shown on its booking page.
  • If the business cancels or has to close (for example because of load-shedding), you can choose a new time or get your deposit back.

4. Messaging rules (business owners)

You may only send marketing broadcasts to customers who opted in. You must honour opt-outs. You may not use BookIt to send spam. When connecting your own WhatsApp Business number, you must also follow Meta's WhatsApp Business policies.

5. Customer data (POPIA)

Each business is the responsible party for its customers' personal information. BookIt acts as the business's operator: we process that information only to provide the booking, payment and messaging service, keep it secure and confidential, and do not sell it or use it for our own marketing. The business must have a lawful reason to process its customers' information and must deal with their requests (access, correction, deletion). We will tell the business without delay if we suspect a security compromise.

6. Reviews

Only customers with a completed booking can leave a review. Businesses may hide reviews that are abusive or unrelated, but may not edit them.

7. Liability

BookIt is provided "as is". We work hard to keep it running but can't guarantee it will always be available. To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to the subscription fees paid in the previous 3 months.

8. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, including the Consumer Protection Act and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act.
